Born in Neuilly, France in 1940
PHOTOGRAPHY
I started in 1956 as Daniel Filipacchi 's assistant when he was a photographer at "Marie Claire"
In the mean time, I worked as a photographer for "Jazz magazine", "Paris Match" and "Télé7jours".
The military service in Algeria put an end to it in 1960.
From 1962 to 1974 I shot, for the newspaper SLC, Salut Les Copains", all the musicians and artists of the Sixties. I recall a time of cheerfulness and freedom of which I endeavour not to have nostalgia.
From 1990 to 2001 I collaborated in the newspaper "ELLE". Thanks to series like the universes of the fashion designers, I found freedom and imagination close to that of the Sixties.
Nowadays, my activity as a photographer is shared between the press, the publicity and the reports carried out for the music business and book publishers.
I continue to collaborate with the group Hachette Filipacchi Presse for among others "Paris Match" and "Oh!La".
PUBLICITY
In the Sixties I made photographs for advertising campaigns such as "Levi's" and "L'Oreal", among others.
In 1968 I directed my first advertising film for "Canada Dry".
During over one decade I directed around 600 films. Among them Hollywood Chewing Gum, Woolite, Coca Cola, Ford, Nestlé, Camel, Bic, Boursin, to name just a few.
It is during these years that I produced in France three clips to fight against drugs.
Since the beginning of the 90's, back in France, I work on different advertising campaigns.
TELEVISION
In 1966 I directed my first film for the French television. "Les Enfants du Palais" was inspired by Michel Cournot's novel. The story tells a day of a judge for delinquent children.
François Perier, my father was the principal actor. The then famous singer, Dani also had a part in the film.
I directed three documentaries for the French television: Francoise Hardy, George Brassens and Gilbert Montagné.
I also directed two films on Jacques Dutronc, my friend and life style icon.
CINEMA
In 1969 I directed my first feature film with Columbia Pictures. We shot in Guyana and the whole crew was composed of just 4 people: Marc Porel, my brother and actor, Dani, the singer and Jacques Lanzman whom I wrote the scenario. We rewrote the scenes for the next day of shooting going down the Maroni river in our dugouts.
Nevertheless my brother and Dani were great.
In 1974 I had the opportunity to direct Jacques Dutronc who had refused to act until then.
Once more, my father held the other principal role. Working whith my father and my best friend at the same time remains one of my greatest memories.
In 1978 I wrote the scenario of a film with the author Pascal Jardin.
The movie was called "Sal Rêveur" starring Jacques Dutronc and Lea Massari.
I remain very proud of this film in which Jacques was splendid.
In 1979 I discovered the group "Telephone" who inspired me the movie called "Public Phone". They of course starred in it.
This movie was presented at the Cannes Festival in 1980..
